Multifamily developer ZOM Living has acquired 19.5 acres of land in Cary, N.C., for the development of Azalea at the Park, a planned multifamily community. The purchase price could not immediately be learned.
Located at 7216 Carpenter Fire Station Road, the property is slated for completion in early 2028. The development, which is slated to break ground in early 2026, will total 330 units, with 315 units designated as rental apartments. Azalea at the Park will also feature 15 townhouse units and 3,000 square feet to 5,000 square feet of retail space.
The apartment building will include studios and one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, ranging from 575 square feet to 1,250 square feet in size. The townhouses will each have have three bedrooms and three bathrooms and will total 1,500 square feet. All townhouses will have directly accessible attached garages.
Common amenities will include 15,000 square feet of community gathering space, a 10,000-square-foot clubhouse and direct access to Morris Branch Greenway, a footpath that runs partly along a small lake in Cary. The property is across the street from Carpenter Fire Station Neighborhood Park, a new 20-acre park that includes paved trails, a dog park, playground, baseball fields, basketball courts, a fitness hub and public art.
An active developer in North Carolina, ZOM is currently at work on Maizon Durham, a 248-unit community in Durham. In 2022, the company completed Hazel SouthPark, a mixed-use development with 203 apartments and 14,000 square feet of retail space in the SouthPark neighborhood, which is adjacent to SouthPark Mall.
